Through engaging character role-play from different periods of Cockatoo Island’s history, the Then, Now & Tomorrow tour encourages children to work together to investigate and share the stories that make up the Island’s changing face. From its time as a prison, a reformatory school, a major shipyard and now a key cultural site, students will identify its historical uses as an island and the processes and community actions that led to its heritage status.
This tour brings together historical and environmental concerns and equips students with skills to better understand and participate in historical enquiry.
Warning to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders: This tour contains stories and may contain images and/or visuals of deceased people.
