During your time on Cockatoo Island, don’t miss a visit to the Marina Café & Bar, just a short stroll through the Dogleg Tunnel from the main ferry wharf or through the Main Tunnel from the campground. Avoid the queues and make the most of their relaxed, family friendly environment, overlooking Camber Wharf Marina to the shores of Balmain. The Marina Café & Bar serves up delicious café treats such as nachos and home made pizzas, as well as beer on tap by Byron Bay Brewrey and James Squire everyday of the week this summer! From Thursday through to Sunday their food truck kitchen is opened and prepares mouth watering burgers with fries, fish and chips and popcorn chicken as well as daily specials.

Visitors are welcome to pack a picnic and soak up the vistas in one of our scenic picnic spots, both the lower and upper island have a range of shady spots. Please note, you can not bring alcohol onto Cockatoo Island, beer and wine can only be consumed in licensed areas. Read more about the Cockatoo Island alcohol rules.
Located in Memorial Park, opposite the Visitor Centre, these are available for public to use. There are two BBQ’s with a total of four hotplates. This area is not undercover and not suitable in adverse weather conditions. There are bench seats and a table at each BBQ that can accommodate up to eight people. The park provides some shaded sitting areas underneath the fig trees or there is also ample grassed areas for you to pull up a picnic spot.
These BBQ’s cannot be reserved and are subject to availability on the day.
This area is for the exclusive use of our campground guests during their stay.
Non-campers can hire the campground BBQ area for small BBQ lunch functions of up to 50 people from Monday to Thursdays only, subject to submitting an application. Fees apply.

There are vending machines located near the cafe, in the campground kitchen and on the upper island near building 10. There is also a coffee machine located in the campground kitchen and tap water on Cockatoo Island is Sydney water and is drinkable.
Please note alcohol cannot be brought onto Cockatoo Island.
