Kayaking

If you enjoy exploring Sydney Harbour by water, how about paddling to Cockatoo Island. With gentle slipway access, Cockatoo Island is an ideal base to explore western Sydney Harbour.

Kayakers can land at the slipways on the western end of the island, near the campground. Kayaks can be left at the slipway - please remember that items are left at the owner's risk so take any valuables with you. No motorised vessels are permitted in this location. Be careful not to land at other locations on the island, as kayaks can not be brought onto grassed areas as the saltwater runoff can harm the vegetation.

Talks & Speakers

We can bring Cockatoo Island to you! Our speakers can provide your community group with a fascinating presentation, free of charge. Enjoy a talk that covers our former colonial, military and convict sites, colourful and little known tales, and historic photographs. Talks include not only Cockatoo Island but also Headland Park, North Head Sanctuary and Macquarie Lighthouse.

Our volunteer team of speakers provide free educational talks to groups across the Sydney metropolitan area and Central Coast. The presenters come equipped with their own electronic equipment and only require access to power, a blank wall or screen and an enthusiastic audience. They provide talks on a regular basis to community groups such as Rotary, Lions, Probus and Historical Societies. A minimum of 20 people in attendance is requested.
