FIVE CAMPING OPTIONS AVAILABLE

You can choose from five camping options, catering for a range of budgets, group sizes and occasions, including romantic getaways and family vacations.

Camping Site Only (BYO Tent) : If you’re a seasoned camper or on a budget, you can bring and pitch your own tent or swag.

Camping and Deluxe Camping Packages: Alternatively, we can arrange a pre-erected tent for you, allowing you to focus on relaxation, recreation and exploration.

Deluxe Waterfront Camping Packages: If you’re after a little luxury, you can even check into a tent or dual tent directly on the waterfront that boasts homely comforts.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU

Depending on what is included in your selected camping package (see table above), we recommend you bring the following items with you:

  • Camping Package: Sleeping bags pillows, a torch, food, non-alcoholic beverages, cooking utensils, cutlery, plates and personal items. If you are a light sleeper, you can collect ear plugs from the Visitor Centre upon check-in. 
  • Deluxe Camping Package: Food, non-alcoholic beverages, cooking utensils, cutlery, plates, personal items and a torch. If you are a light sleeper, you can collect ear plugs from the Visitor Centre upon check-in. 
  • Deluxe Waterfront Camping Package: Food, non-alcoholic beverages, cooking utensils, cutlery, plates and personal items. If you are a light sleeper, you can collect ear plugs from the Visitor Centre upon check-in. 
  • Deluxe Waterfront Two-Bedroom Camping Package: Food, non-alcoholic beverages, cooking utensils, cutlery, plates and personal items. If you are a light sleeper, you can collect ear plugs from the Visitor Centre upon check-in. 
  • Camping Site Only (BYO tent): A tent, sleeping bags, pillows, torch, food, non-alcoholic beverages, cooking utensils, cutlery, plates and personal items. If you are a light sleeper, you can collect ear plugs from the Visitor Centre upon check-in. 

FURTHER INFORMATION

  • Campground amenities: All campers have access to toilets, hot showers and a communal kitchen featuring sheltered facilities. These include barbeques, boiling water, fridges, a coffee maker, microwaves, a vending machine and seating for up to 50 people.
  • Extras: Head to Cockatoo Island’s Visitor Centre, a short walk from the campground, to purchase additional mattresses ($10 per night), sundry food items, toiletries, camper packs and sleeping bags. Our friendly accommodation staff are on-hand to offer help – just ask!
  • Food: For a care-free stay, we offer a range of convenient meal options for campers. For more information, head to our Campground food options webpage.
  • Check-in/Check-out: Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is by 10am.
  • Accessibility: The campground is wheelchair accessible, with a disabled shower and toilet available. Please note: tents have a step to enter, which is not suitable for wheelchair access. To discuss accessibility, contact stay@cockatooisland.gov.au
