Accommodation Terms and Conditions
We want your stay on Cockatoo Island to be as comfortable as possible. Please note the following terms and conditions:
- Weekday check-in is from 3:00pm and check-out is up to 11:00am.
- Weekend check-in is from 3:00pm on Friday and check out is 2.30pm on Sunday.
- Please advise if you are arriving after 6:00pm.
- A 20% non-refundable deposit is required with balance payable 6 weeks prior to arrival.
- No refunds for cancellations within 6 weeks of date of arrival.
- A minimum stay of two nights applies at all times.
- A $50 nightly surcharge applies for bookings on public holidays.
- A credit card bond of $500 for a weekday/weekend booking and $1,000 for a weekly booking is required for all bookings.
- Keys are obtained from the Island Office, located behind the Visitor Centre at the Parramatta Wharf (Northern wharf at Cockatoo Island).
- Houses are only for the residential use of booked occupants. No functions, events, ceremonies or parties to be held in the houses.
- No smoking permitted in houses or on balconies. Please use the garden area for smoking.
- Although alcohol is not permitted in the campground, those letting the historic houses are allowed to bring alcohol in moderate quantities.
- Amplified music is not permitted outdoors.
- Animals (except guide dogs) are not permitted.
- Staying on Cockatoo Island is a unique experience and we want all visitors to enjoy their stay. Remember that the island is open to the public, including campers staying overnight.
Camping and Glamping Terms and Conditions
Camping on Cockatoo Island is a unique experience, however we have limited space and always take care of the surrounding environment. Accordingly we have conditions to follow:
- Check-in is from 2:00pm and check-out is 10:00am.
- Please advise if you are arriving after 5:00pm.
- There is a maximum number of four people per site.
- Sites are allocated on the morning of your arrival and are unpowered.
- Sites are 4 meters x 4 metres. If your tent exceeds these dimensions you will need to book one or more additional sites.
- Bond of $100 is required for the hire of equipment. This bond is refunded when equipment is returned in good order.
- Lanterns are available for hire (subject to availability), please BYO torch.
- Maximum stay 30 days, no return permitted within seven days.
- Cost of transportation to and from the island is not included.
- Reservations can be made up to six months in advance.
- Reservations must be paid in full at the time of booking.
- No refunds to camping reservations. Bookings can be changed or extended by up to three months until five days prior to arrival. After that time, changes and extensions can be made to any date in the following three months excepting Saturday nights. No extensions on rain checks or vouchers. No changes on the day of arrival.
- No cooking other than at the campground kitchen or island barbeques is permitted.
- Portable barbecues and compressed or liquid fuel is not permitted.
- Please minimise waste and take your rubbish with you off the island.
- Alcohol may not be brought onto the island, but may be purchased from the island's cafe.
- Animals (except guide dogs) are not permitted.
- There is no ATM on the island. Payments can be made by EFTPOS.
- The campground, whilst on an island, is open to the general public and readily accessible. The island has 24-hour security but you are urged not to leave valuables unattended. You may wish to bring a small padlock for your tent or keep valuables with you at all times.
- Skateboarding is not allowed on Cockatoo Island.
