Visitor regulations

Cockatoo Island is a former industrial site – please take care and watch out for:

  • uneven surfaces
  • voids
  • trip hazards
  • cliffs

Please don’t bring the following onto the island:

  • Alcohol – The Harbour Trust enforces strict alcohol rules, designed to prevent unsafe alcohol consumption and anti-social behaviour. FURTHER INFORMATION
  • Animals (except guide dogs)
  • Skateboards and roller blades (bicycles and scooters are allowed)
  • Drones or remote controlled vehicles and aircraft

Please consider others and don’t:

  • Smoke in buildings or within 5 metres of cafes
  • Enter construction areas
  • Climb on cliffs or historic structures
  • Fish from the island or within the exclusion zone
  • Camp outside of the designated campground

A permit must be obtained in advance to do the following:

  • Erecting gazebos or marquees
  • Performing commercial activities
  • Holding private functions
  • Playing amplified music
