Visitor regulations
Cockatoo Island is a former industrial site – please take care and watch out for:
- uneven surfaces
- voids
- trip hazards
- cliffs
Please don’t bring the following onto the island:
- Alcohol – The Harbour Trust enforces strict alcohol rules, designed to prevent unsafe alcohol consumption and anti-social behaviour. FURTHER INFORMATION
- Animals (except guide dogs)
- Skateboards and roller blades (bicycles and scooters are allowed)
- Drones or remote controlled vehicles and aircraft
Please consider others and don’t:
- Smoke in buildings or within 5 metres of cafes
- Enter construction areas
- Climb on cliffs or historic structures
- Fish from the island or within the exclusion zone
- Camp outside of the designated campground
A permit must be obtained in advance to do the following:
- Erecting gazebos or marquees
- Performing commercial activities
- Holding private functions
- Playing amplified music
